READING CHALLENGE! READ 12 IN 2012

READING CHALLENGE! READ 12 IN 2012
Be the first to take the challenge and read 12 books from our church library during 2012 and win a $25 Gift Certificate to Applebees. The first person to give the list to Lora Lowery of the 12 books read from our church library, will be the winner of the gift certificate. The next
4 runners-up will receive a DVD (title to be announced later in the year). Ron & Sharon Baker recommend, Not a Fan, by Kyle Idleman. A fan of Jesus gets excited at Church, Sunday School, and Bible Study, but during the rest of the week the focus is on work, family and social activities.
Jesus told his disciples to "follow me". This book clearly defines the differences between being a fan or a follower and challenges the reader to take an honest look at their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

PHONE and / or E-MAIL PRAYER CHAIN

James 5:16 says, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." It is our desire to use all the means available to us to be a church that is praying for our people. Therefore, we would like to start an E-MAIL PRAYER CHAIN along with the PHONE PRAYER CHAIN. There is a SIGN UP SHEET IN THE LOBBY for anyone who would like to be informed of a prayer request during the week, via e-mail and/or by phone.
If you only want to be on the e-mail prayer chain DO NOT give your phone number. TODAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR SIGNING UP

WOMAN TO WOMAN

A part of the Ladies Ministry of Oxbow Lake Baptist Church , is an opportunity for women to seek God's leading in establishing the friendship of another woman and to be God's instrument in making a difference in each other's life. You may contact Sharon Baker at 248-706-1854 to be involved in this part of the women's ministry.

THE CHURCH HAS A NEW PHONE NUMBER WHICH HOPEFULLY IT IS PERMANENT 248-698-3034

NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT BRING FOOD OR BEVERAGES INTO THE SANCTUARY. THANK YOU.  PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONES WHILE IN THE SERVICES.

We are thankful for the visitors that the Lord sends to our services on Sundays. We have installed three Visitor Parking Signs. Please observe these Visitor Parking Signs on Sunday Mornings.

WE NOW HAVE INDIVIDUAL HEARING ASSISTANCE DEVICES

These devices will amplify the sound of the music and message. You can pick one up at the sound booth. When the service is over, please return it to the sound booth.

NOTE FROM THE MEDIA CENTER:

Please check around your house for any books, videos, DVD’s, etc. that need to be returned to the Media Center.
Please ask for and save the stickers from  the Family Bible Bookstore and give them to Peggy Gaynor, Lora Lowery, or Denise Hack.  For each book of stamps we fill, we receive $5.00 towards a book for our library.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OLD EYE GLASSES AND CANCELLED STAMPS TO CHURCH

Deposit them in a container on the table in the lobby by the Ladies Restroom under the window. THEY ARE USED FOR MISSIONS.

NOTE FROM OUR TREASURER

If you are using an envelope other than your numbered ones in your box, please put your name on the envelope so I know to whom to give credit for your yearly statement.

We need to make a new Prayer Chain. If you are interested in being on the prayer chain, please sign the SIGN UP SHEET in the lobby with your name and phone number. When you receive a prayer request it is your responsibility to pass it on to the next person. If they are not home, leave a message if they have an answering machine, and go to the next person on the list.

The three minute rule is the "three minutes" at the end of the Worship Service where you find someone you don’t know and greet them instead of gathering with those you do know. As members of Oxbow Lake Baptist, these "three minutes" also are to be used to greet our Guests before we move on to fellowship with our friends.

Many times our "Guests" are attending church looking for answers to problems or for Christian friends or for eternal direction. Therefore, we must be sure not to miss the golden opportunity to share God’s love and welcome them warmly. In welcoming our guests warmly, it will open the door for the right to minister to them in God’s House.

A $5.00 DONATION WILL BE MADE TO OUR CHURCH

If you turn in your dead auto and/or boat core batteries to DISCOUNT BATTERY at 2977 Dixie Hwy. ,Waterford (674-2565) or at 2505 Union Lake Rd., Commerce (363-0330). You must mention our church name at the time of drop off. No purchase necessary. This will go in the BUILDING FUND.
